Tidbits from Tim

Tim Hackett - Owner, Long Beach Lodge Resort

I would like to thank all our summer guests. It was wonderful to see so many families with kids and pups enjoying their holidays, spending lots of time on the beach and perhaps surfing. It was a bit of a strange summer with lots of rain, especially in August. While last year we went into Stage Four water restrictions, this year we never rose beyond Stage One. Tofino is unique in that even with the rain, it is wonderful to visit in any season. It appears we are about to experience a beautiful fall!

Autumn in Tofino is a wonderful season, often featuring bright days and cool evenings. While I love summer, I am ready for the shift into fall! In Tofino, it's a quieter, more relaxed time, worlds apart from the ever-busier city life and demands. With scrumptious food and drink, cottages and rooms with fireplaces, and great sleeps, we refer to it as our “cozy season.”

We are humbled to have now received over 5,000 TripAdvisor reviews, the vast majority of them being five-star. This is amazing for a resort our size. People comment that while the resort may be beautiful and in a great beachfront location, it is our helpful and caring staff that keeps them returning. Our wonderful staff are our greatest asset; it is a joy to work with the team - they keep me youngish!

We would love to welcome you in October, perhaps for our Thanksgiving feast.

Best wishes,
Tim

"Anniversary weekend."
2024-12-02
We went to the west coast to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary as we were married out there. It was a lovely weekend and the LBLR was a good choice to stay with our dogs. The room is comfortable and easily accessible on the ground level so we were not having to walk up and down stairs or take elevators with the dogs. The restaurant (we only ate breakfasts there) was good value for money and has great beach views. I think the upcoming closure for maintenance etc. will be good as the rooms and eating area is showing a bit of wear, but still a great spot to stay.

"One of the best “experience” hotels we’ve stayed in"
2024-10-29
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 14 day road-trip from Ireland and all I can say is that it was absolutely amazing. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We stayed in room 313 which was on the top floor overlooking the beach with a balcony. Truth be told, the hotel was so good we didn’t venture far over the 3 days, instead opting to just “relax” at the hotel walking the beach or sitting outside at the gas fires taking in the ambience and the surfers catching the waves. The food and service in the restaurant was amazing, I would even go so far to say it was the best food we’ve had in a long time at a hotel! If having food at the hotel, make sure you book a table at the restaurant before 6pm and maybe even arrive a little early. They will not reserve the window seats, but to get the best view of the sunset over the pacific - trust me, it’s where you want to be sitting. Cocktails were also very good. If getting a snack during the day you can get it at the Surf Club which is a few steps from the main building. After dinner we just retired to the bedroom with the gas fires going, patio doors open and enjoying a bottle of wine while listening to the waves crash on the beach. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel any of the mornings as we wanted something “light” opting instead for the delights from the cafe & bakery Tofitian just a few minutes up the road. As an “experience”, it was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve visited in Canada/US. The team should be very proud.
