Tidbits from Tim
Tim Hackett - Owner, Long Beach Lodge Resort
November 2024
As we look back on the past year, we’re proud of all we’ve accomplished and grateful for the support of our wonderful guests. We’ve had another exceptional year on many fronts here at the Lodge!
I’m delighted to share some exciting news: in January, my stepdaughter Katie will become the CEO of the company that owns the Lodge. While I’ll gradually step back from day-to-day operations, I’ll remain actively involved—always working to enhance the guest experience and personally responding to all guest reviews.
Once again, we’ve been honored by both TripAdvisor and the Conde Nast People’s Choice Awards as one of the top 15 hotels and resorts in Canada. This recognition is very humbling, especially since it’s based on surveys of over 8,500 properties. We greatly appreciate the wonderful feedback from our guests—thank you for your continued support!
Earlier this year, our General Manager Samantha left the resort to become the Executive Director of the Tofino Chamber of Commerce—a role in which we know she’s excelling! We were delighted to welcome Trevor as our new GM this summer. Many of you may remember Trevor from his previous time with us before he went on to manage a hotel in Victoria. With years of experience in our industry, Trevor is an excellent hotelier, and we’re lucky to have him back.
This year, we expanded our facilities with the addition of the Rainforest Spa. This stunning space has quickly become a guest favorite, offering treatments from our team of skilled RMTs. As a bonus, spa guests can enjoy access to our hot pool and sauna before or after their appointments. We also introduced a new gym with top-notch equipment, a complimentary guest laundry facility, and a new staff house that contributes to providing single rooms for 24 employees. Comfortable, well-maintained housing is essential for attracting and retaining great staff. Additionally, we constructed a new housekeeping facility complete with a manager’s office and warehouse connected to our laundry.
Our commitment to continually improving the resort doesn’t stop there. Last year, we began refurbishing our guest rooms with a lighter color palette, new carpets, chairs, and updated wall colors. This year, we’ve just started a complete upgrade of our first 12 cottages, including new wood flooring, carpets, paint, and brand-new kitchens. We aim to have all cottages fully updated by Easter! Maintaining the resort in excellent condition for our valued guests is always our top priority.
Best wishes to everyone for the holiday season, and for health and happiness in the New Year.
