Tidbits from Tim

Tim Hackett - Owner, Long Beach Lodge Resort

January 2025

Happy New Year! My very best wishes for 2025!

With all the challenges and changes happening in the world today, I’ve made a conscious decision to focus on the things that bring joy and meaning to life. I want to cherish the company of friends and staff, appreciate the beauty of our surroundings here on the West Coast, and find ways to help those in need. It’s easy to get caught up in worries, but after all, most of the things we worry about never happen anyway!

In December, we held a guest contest, searching for a vibrant couple to feature in a photo and video campaign for the resort. We asked guests to share some background about their previous experiences at the Lodge. The responses were overwhelming—close to two hundred heartfelt and personal stories about what the resort has meant to them. We’re so grateful and humbled to know how special the Lodge is to so many guests, many of whom have been visiting us regularly for years. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate to share my time with some very loving and loyal pets. My Havanese pup, Maisy, is no exception. She shadows me wherever I go, insisting on coming along when I leave the house or travel—and she is even a fearless companion during air travel for longer trips! I know I’m not alone in this, as many of our guests bring their dogs when they visit. They often comment on how much their four-legged family members enjoy the experience too. I’ve even seen dogs smiling as they head to the beach!

Our February “Pets Stay Free” special has become an annual favorite, with many guests and their dogs taking part. During this event, the pet fees we would typically collect are donated to a local group that cares for stray dogs through adoption. We also match the funds raised, doubling the impact of this heartfelt initiative.

As you may know, it’s a busy time at the resort. Our team and subcontractors are hard at work redecorating the lodge rooms with lighter wall paint and carpets and updating upholstered chairs to match. The penthouses are undergoing complete renovations, while the first 12 cottages are being upgraded with new kitchens, flooring, carpeting, and lighter wall colors.

Experts in the hospitality industry often say that while a resort’s beauty and location—perhaps even a beach—are important, it’s the friendly and attentive staff that resonates most with guests. With this in mind, I extend my deepest thanks to our wonderful team for their dedication and hard work.

We’d love to welcome you back this New Year, whether for a special family occasion, a business retreat, or simply a relaxing getaway.

Thank you,
Tim
