The Great Room named second best resort restaurant in BC
Golden Plate award as voted on by readers of The Georgia Straight
Each year readers of The Georgia Straight nominate and vote on the best restaurants, entertainment and drinks in Vancouver and around the province and, given the many potential choices, it is particularly impressive that two Tofino resorts - The Pointe Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn and The Great Room at the Resort – were ranked 1-2.
The accolades and enthusiastic endorsements are nothing new for The Great Room and other Tofino restaurants.
In 2014, Tofino’s Wolf in the Fog was named the best new restaurant in Canada in enRoute’s annual Top 10 list.
In October 2014, Wolf in the Fog chef Nick Nutting explained his locally sourced and ingredient-driven menu to Lois Abraham of The Canadian Press, “We definitely have a bold style when it comes to what we do. We have a lot of beautiful ingredients that we get out there and we just try to bring the flavours through in a way that’s fun and exciting. There’s a lot of people serving a lot of salmon dishes on the West Coast and all the standards, but the stuff we have to work with in Tofino is just that much fresher.”
Nutting went on to add, “coming from probably the smallest town of any of the places nominated to be No. 1 is mind-blowing really.”
And so it is in The Great Room.

Winning a Golden Plate award through The Georgia Straight means a lot to the Resort. Visitors took the initiative and time to nominate and then vote for The Great Room. Chef Riddick, serving staff – in fact all staff – at the Resort work hard to ensure every visit, meal and adventure at the Resort is enjoyable and memorable.
