Our Story
Since 2002, Long Beach Lodge Resort has been a place for guests to experience the rugged beauty of the West Coast. Perched on the edge of Cox Bay, the Lodge was designed to reflect the natural surroundings. From the original main building to today’s private cottages and surf centre, every addition has been guided by a commitment to quality, community and a deep connection to this extraordinary coastline.

Our Commitments
Everyday Eco Choices
We’ve swapped gas vehicles for electric, eliminated single-use plastics, track food waste and use local refill programs to reduce waste and protect the beautiful natural surroundings of Cox Bay.
A Culture of Conservation
We conserve water through efficient fixtures and low flush toilets, recycle and compost across the resort and encourage staff-led sustainability initiatives. Guests join us in reusing linens to reduce laundry impacts.
Sustainable Dining
Our menus feature local, seasonal ingredients. In our kitchens, we track food waste, reuse water creatively and use energy efficient equipment to reduce impact—without sacrificing flavour or freshness.

A Family Legacy
The vision behind the Lodge began with founder Tim Hackett’s enduring love for Tofino, first sparked on camping trips in the 1960s. He imagined a place that captured the spirit of the coast—a retreat where guests could feel both immersed in nature and right at home. Drawing on local materials like Douglas fir and granite, Tim created a space that feels warm and welcoming. While the setting is stunning, it’s the genuine hospitality that brings guests back.
That tradition of service continues with Tim’s step-daughter, Katie Foussier, who joined the leadership team in 2023. Committed to keeping the resort in the family, Katie brings fresh energy while maintaining the same values, knowing the heart of Long Beach Lodge is its incredible staff.
