Blessing of the Boats

Earlier this week, dozens gathered on the main wharf to witness the annual tradition of boat blessing. On the calm waters of the Tofino Harbour, vessels of all sizes lined up to receive a splash of holy water via squirt gun.

The super soaker adds a twist to the tradition and a touch of humour but whether you call it religion or superstition, this ceremony is taken very seriously by those who float on our West Coast waters.

With Captain Josh at the helm, the Blue Pearl cruised beneath the local pastor as he said a prayer, blessing the Long Beach Lodge boat for the upcoming adventure tour season.

According to Wikipedia, the Blessing of the Fleet is a ritual that goes back centuries and is practiced in communities around the world. Although each event varies in ceremony, the core is consistent; ensuring a safe and bountiful season to all.

"Another Great Stay!"

We've been taking winter breaks in Tofino/Ucluelet for almost 20 years and enjoy the lack of crowds and ability to beach walk & experience some awesome winter storms. Long Beach Lodge makes a great base as we take our 2 labs and book one of the a dog friendly rooms on the ground floor that have walk out to the beach and a great view. This year was no exception with no rain while we were there and 2 days of storm force winds that made for great breaking surf. The room was great as always, staff all excellent and we ate 2 nights in the restaurant enjoying great meals and good beer both nights. An added plus was a new bank of 8 Level2 EV chargers (CCS) by the entrance with complimentary charging for guests, so keeping the car charged for drives to hiking locations and in prep for out return home was totally painless. "A little slice of heaven"

Was absolutely blown away by this property in every way. Cottages were well appointed and a few minute walk to the beach. Loved having private hot tubs. Restaurant was incredible. Had a fantastic dinner and breakfast there each morning. Wonderful service, generous portions. Great kids menu with crayons provided. Ordered the seafood boil to our cottage with another family. One of the most epic meals of all time. Beach is next level. Gorgeous. This is the perfect destination for families. Thank you for an incredible stay! "Maxeen, the Gem"

We loved our stay at the long beach lodge resort. The facility is fantastic, the people are so helpful, the location cannot be beat. We are right in the beach, a hot tub right outside our main bedroom. Maxeen at the Lodge is an absolute gem ? she made our trip something to remember forever.
